シャープとサムスンがLCD特許訴訟について法廷闘争を終結

After three years of spent treasure, Sharp and Samsung have finally settled their LCD patent fight. Although the terms of the agreement won't be made public, a Sharp spokesman was caught boasting about conditions that "will be in favor of Sharp" -- the company that kicked off the battle back in 2007. As a recap, the disputed patents covered LCD TVs, monitors, and mobile phones in lawsuits filed in the US, Europe, Japan, and South Korea.
　 After a string of defeats in the US and Europe resulted in an import ban on its panels, Samsung, it seems, was left with little choice but to settle on Sharp's terms.

3年に及ぶ消耗戦の後、シャープとサムスンはついにLCD特許紛争に終止符を打った。
合意の内容については公にされないものの、シャープのスポークスマンは、合意条件は「シャープに有利なものである」と胸を張った。シャープは2007年から法廷闘争を開始している。
総括すると、紛争対象になった特許は、LCD TV、モニター、および携帯電話におよび、訴訟は米国、
欧州、日本、そして韓国で争われた。
米国と欧州で立て続けに敗北し、パネル製品の輸入を禁止される結果に
なったため、サムスンにとっては、シャープの条件を飲むことによる解決
しか選択肢は残されていなかったようだ。
