Yes, both of his parents are all Koreans.
But, their childern changed the nationality to Japan. I guess they thought it should make it easier for them to live in Japan. The parents still keep their own passports though.

But, what's matter with his being Japanese or Korean? Only things that matter are that he's a good player and did very well in this Worldcup.

Giving more adds, if you look up your ancestors, some of them are mixed with Korean, Chinese, or other people regardless they wanted or not. The same thing can be found in my ancestors. And people's abilities and characters are not completed by their blood but the way and surrounding they have been raised in and lots of other things...

So, my ending is that i still praise him for his brilliant performance not becuase I am Korean but I am a true soccer fan, and it's getting wasteless to judge people by the nationality nowadays.
