ANTI-whaling vessel Gojira has arrived back in Hobart.

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's $1.2 million superfast trimaran was spotted in the River Derwent early yesterday before docking at Princes Wharf where it was met by Customs officials.

The futuristic 36m ship has been involved in several clashes with Japanese whalers in the Southern Ocean since it left Tasmania about a month ago.

It is not known how long the boat will be staying in Tasmania.

When the boat and its 11 crew last visited Hobart they stayed for two weeks.
