Wellington, April 22 NZPA - An International Whaling Commission (IWC) support group's discussions on how to tackle its opposition to Japan's whaling activities appear to have fallen short of a consensus.
The group, chaired by New Zealand representative Sir Geoffrey Palmer, has been in Washington trying to get an agreed proposal together to present to the IWC's global meeting in Morocco in June.
Foreign Minister Murray McCully said tonight that had not happened, despite the efforts of the countries involved.
