Aussie whaling case on tenterhooks

The Federal Court has reserved its decision in a case which will decide whether a Japanese whaler can be prevented from operating in Australian Antarctic waters.
Animal welfare group the Humane Society International has sought an injunction against Japanese whaler Kyodo Senpaku Kaisha, saying it's responsible for the deaths of about 1,260 whales within the sanctuary.
The group also alleges the Japanese company plans to kill a further 1,000 whales within the area, when the whaling season begins in December.
Japan doesn't recognise the sanctuary.
The case has been ongoing for three years, with the Humane Society first launching the action in October 2004.
