■デメロ国連高等弁務官の不慮の死を悼む
本日、「家族会」、「救う会」、「議連」は、「デメロ国連高等弁務官の不慮の死を悼む」メッセージを発表した。同メッセージは、英訳され、ジュネーブの同氏事務所に、外務省を通じて届けられる予定。内容は以下の通り。

デメロ国連人権高等弁務官の不慮の死を悼む
昨１９日、バグダッドの国連事務所で起きた爆弾テロは、デメロ国連事務総長特別代表（国連人権高等弁務官）を含む多くの犠牲者を出した。われわれは、この卑劣なテロ行為を強く非難する。
本年４月、拉致被害者の家族を中心とするわれわれの代表団がジュネーブを訪れた際、セルジオ・ビエイラ・デメロ氏は、多忙なスケジュールを割いて、家族の訴えに熱心に耳を傾けてくれた。氏の真剣な態度はわれわれに強い感銘を与え、参加した家族の多くが、ジュネーブ訪問中の最も印象的な経験として、デメロ氏との会見を挙げている。
氏は、危険で困難な仕事から決して逃げなかった。今、氏の不慮の死という報に接し、われわれはテロ国家との戦いに向けた決意を新たにする。
デメロ氏の残された家族に対し、心より哀悼の意を表する。

In the terrorist bombing that occurred at the UN headquarters in Baghdad
yesterday, many people including the Secretary-General's Special
Representative de Mello were killed. We condemn this terrorist act
unequivocally.
When our delegation called on his office in Geneva, despite his tight
schedule Sergio Vieira de Mello, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights,
shared his time with us and listened quite intently to the stories of
family members of abductees. His sincere attitude deeply moved us. Many who
were attended cited this meeting as the most impressive experience in Geneva.
Mr. de Mello never shirked the dangerous and difficult job. Having heard
the sad news of his untimely death, we renew our determination to fight
against terrorists and terror states.
We extend our deepest condolence to Mr. de Mello's family.
