Euro NCAP has announced it's latest crash test results and the BMW X1, Chevrolet Cruze, Citroën DS3, Infiniti FX, Mazda 3, Mercedes E-Class and GLK, Opel Astra, Peugeot 5008 and Volkswagen Scirocco all scored full 5-star ratings
The Chevrolet Spark scored four stars in the ratings but Toyota's Urban Cruiser shocked with only three stars awarded by the organization dedicated to revealing the safety of new cars
The Urban Cruiser’s disappointing 58% result was due to a weak result in the Adult Occupation Protection initiated by a pole side impact test according to Euro NCAP when the test indicated that the deceleration of the dummy’s head did not meet requirements.
Toyota is however disputing Euro NCAP's claims and commented that its engineers put the Urban Cruiser through the same rigorous in-house tests in an attempt to receive the top safety ratings with the Avensis, IQ and Prius, which both scored 5-star ratings.
The Japanese company is now investigating the NCAP claims, insisting the Urban Cruiser is worthy of the five star rating.
