Since I'm not a citizen of Japan, I don't have a right to force Japanese students to study what I want them to study. Before I came here to discuss various issues with Japanese people, I had only a limited view of Japan and the Japanese people. Ihad always thought that Japanese people would feel sorry and do what they should do to make up for their past deeds. However, I realize that this is not the case.

I understand that every country has its own policy of education. Although it isalways said that an education system should cultivate "righteous" people, it is largely subject to manipulation by officials for advancing national interests. In the case of Japan, since the Japanese government believes that the future of its nation relieson the confidence of the next generation, it is only natural for them to "dilute" the narration of its past military aggression. I am not saying that I agree with the Japanese government. In fact, it is impossible for me to agree because I must standup for my country.

However, I find that many Japanese are shocked to witness all the anti-Japanese sentiments in many other countries (especially Asian countries) when they travel abroad. (In other Asian countries,)some even think that thepeople there should like Japan a lot because of all the cool technology and cartoons. I don't doubt the fact that there are those who like Japan for those things, but if you look deeper you'll find that it's a different picture. I'm not sure whetherJapanese people know this or not.

I am not a nationalist. I merely want my country to do well so people can live decently good lives. I always feel that I'm very lucky to be born in a HK family. I always wonder what would happen to me if I was bornto a family in, let's say, Qinghai (Province of China). If that was the case, I wouldn't be sitting here typing messages for this Japanese message board.

I treat everyone with respect, regardless of his or her nationality. I never mix politicswith friendship. I saw earlier in the KOREA section of this message board that there was Japanese lady who got scolded by her Korean friends for Japan's colonization of Korea at the beginning of this century. I think that it's wrong to scold a friendlike that. One should never mingle politics with friendship. If that's the case, everyone will end up with no friends because almost every civilization had had some "invasion history" since its existence. I wish that Japanese lady can overcome her sorrowand be happy again. I hope that this kind of incident isn't going to happen to anyone again (but it's kind of difficult).
