Japanese companies in China mostly raise funds from the local units of Japanese banks. These banks are now examining what lending stance to adopt in response to the cap, and may ask corporate borrowers to repay a portion of their loans or stop lending to them.

Many Japanese companies in China cannot raise enough funds through regular bank loans because they lack sufficient collateral. They also face the reluctant lending stance of Chinese banks, the Nikkei said.
