racial equality
I think that if Japan wants to become a power, it must change its traditional view of foreigners. I've read a lot of news about how Japanese are afraid to come in contact with non-Japanese. I don't know why Japanese should have that mentalitynowadays. Globalization is sweeping across the world at rapid speeds. Accepting foreign cultures and foreigners are crucial to maintaining prosperity and growth in the future. Refusing to let foreigners into certain place may be acceptable to the Japanese. Ifthat happens in Toronto, the mayor will have to resign and the premier will be bombarded with attacks. One can argue that since Japan had been a closed country in the past, it is something that Japan can't change. However, such an excuse won't get youanywhere.
Please don't misunderstand. China hasn't yet become a racially-equal society. There are still different groups of people who are subject to subtle discrimination. I think that racial equality is extremely important for China. Han Chinese must abandonGreat-Han chauvinism and treat other minorities as equals. Although there are laws that protect minorities (e.g. better housing and education opportunities), more minority people should hold government positions so they will have a voice in the parliament.Han Chinese people should help preserve minority cultures and languages. We must make minority people to be proud of their heritage. Han Chinese should even learn a few minority languages too. Although learning their languages are wholely voluntary, itis a gesture of respect and a desire to get along with them. The principle to make them proud of their heritage and the place they are living in.
Every Chinese citizen must uphold the principle and spirit of racial equality in China.
