アメリカ人の友達から今メールをもらいましたので是非読んでください。一部にはこんなに冷静なアメリカ人もいます。なぜか読んでいて涙が出てきました。事件の時も泣かなかったのに。
これが友人からの返事、一部抜粋です。
I have had some really close arab-american friends here that have had some bad experiences the past few days. It's upsetting to me that Americans oversimplify so many problems and place blame where it shouldn't be. I guess I am not so patriotic because I also believe that people need to start understanding why America is so hated from people in other countries-there's a reason for that. And we are upset now that terrorism is on our shores, but the U.S. has been financing terrorist attacks in other parts of the world when it meets the U.S. geo-political agenda. Anyway, it will be upsetting if our president wages an all out war in the Muslim world because so many more people innocent people will be killed.
I can understand how you were upset when the media called this "the second pearl harbor." I think its easy to forget how ignorant the U.S. treated that situation by detaining japanese-americans, i hope that doesn't happen to the arab-americans. i don't think that this will initiate another wave of racism against japanese though. i think japan lost many of their own in the attacks. seems like all the countries are coming together to try to end terrorism. i just hope they do it in the most peaceful manner possible. anyway, keep me posted on you and how you are doing. also, if you ever want to talk about anything give me a call, my number is．．．.
