米軍がタリバン拠点を空爆 住民２５人死亡？
ＡＰ通信によると、アフガニスタン駐留米軍の報道官は２日、東部コナル州の山岳地帯にある旧政権タリバンの武装勢力の拠点を同日までに空爆したことを明らかにした。
死傷者数は不明だが、タリバンの地元司令官はアフガン・イスラム通信に対し、住民２５人が殺害されたと主張している。
米軍が空爆した地域は、６月２８日に米軍の１６人乗り大型輸送ヘリコプターがタリバンとみられる武装勢力に撃墜された現場の近く。同地域では地上で作戦展開中だった部隊が消息を絶ち、米軍が捜索を続けている。空爆は同部隊の救出が目的とみられる。（カブール共同）

U.S. bombs Afghan village

KABUL, Afghanistan (UPI) -- U.S. forces bombed a suspected Taliban hiding place in a remote Afghan village in the area where a ground team has disappeared.
The raid follows a Taliban claim that seven of the missing men have been killed and an eighth captured.
The BBC reports that an Afghan official put the death toll from the bombing raid on Chechal at 25. He said that the planes made two runs, killing villagers who came to the aid of the wounded from the first pass.
On Friday, a man describing himself as a spokesman for the Taliban called news organizations to say that the reconnaissance team had been wiped out. But a U.S. military spokesman in Kabul told The Washington Post there was no proof of that claim.

Special forces team in Afghanistan missing

KABUL, Afghanistan (UPI) -- A small number of U.S. special operations forces are unaccounted for following an Army helicopter crash in Afghanistan, military officials said Friday.
The team was engaged in a firefight with insurgents in Afghanistan`s Kunar province Tuesday when they called for reinforcements, CNN reported.
The MH-47 helicopter crashed as it was carrying troops to reinforce U.S. forces on the ground. Another helicopter traveling with the downed aircraft said the crew saw a smoke trail from an insurgent position and that may have been a missile or rocket, officials said.
Sixteen soldiers were killed in the crash including U.S. Navy SEALs and U.S. Army special forces troops.
A spokesman who identified himself as a member of the Taliban told CNN`s Pakistan bureau ousted Afghan regime members had downed the helicopter.
When U.S. forces arrived at the site of the helicopter crash, the reconnaissance team was not there, but they may be eluding detection by insurgents until they can make their way to safety, military officials said.
