"We have intercepted some messages which suggest that around 90 militants have sneaked in showing that infiltration is still continuing," he said.
On the likely intensification of militant activities, Bhullar said LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen would be in the lead with cadre strength of 525 and 975 respectively.
"The manpower and infrastructure of the two organisations is still intact and they can strike when they want," he said adding other organisations including JeM did not have the penetrating power.
Bhullar said LeT and Hizbul have formed around ten special groups to target the Amarnath Yatra "but troops have been deployed in large numbers and sanitisation of the area will be started very soon" to combat any situation.
Attributing the information to the "very good network of sources," he said now the civilians too were coming out openly with the information about militant movement and their arms dumps.
Mr Bullar said the main reason for militants stepping up activities after June 26 was to scuttle the political process in the Valley. As Assembly elections are due in October, they will indulge in violence and try to keep the people away from this democratic process, he said.
But, we assure the people that the militants will not succeed in their attempts and elections will be held in total peaceful atmosphere and people will feel safe to exercise their franchise.
He said the success achieved by security forces in the Valley in the recent past had hit the striking power of all but two militant outfits. These were the Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashker-e-Toiba who still retained the ability to strike as they desired.
The appearance of two militants killed in Drass sector on Sunday indicated that they belong to the internationally banned Al Qaeda network, Bhullar said.
"Their appearance・the headgear, shoes and other things・indicate that they belong to Al Qaeda but there is no confirmation of the reports yet," , he however maintained.
On the composition of LeT and Hizbul, Bhullar said the former had 98 per cent foreigners and the latter 20 per cent only.
"LeT does not adopt the locals," he said when asked about the high percentage of foreigners in LeT.
Only six to eight per cent of people are pro-Pakistan but all the militant outfits support a merger with the neighbouring country, Bhullar said, adding these would be two crucial factors in deciding the shape of future scenario in the State. (AGENCIES)
