Minister Natan Sharansky also voted against the decision, saying the Palestinians had to democratize more. Then he mentioned what he termed "the hatred and delegitimization" of the settlers: "It is frightening to see how an entire public of law-abiding citizens who oppose the disengagement are being delegitimized."

He asked all Israelis "not to lend a hand to the character assassination of people who devoted their lives to the fulfillment of Zionism." To Sharon, he said: "I was surprised to hear that you said in the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that those opposed to the disengagement are involved in incitement."

When Sharansky said that "it is clear to all that the disengagement is the first step on the road map," Sharon interjected that "there will be no automatic start on our part of the road map. We will only go on to the road map when the PA does all it has committed to do, like stopping the incitement, dismantling the terror organizations, conducting reforms and ceasing the violence."

Abbas: Pullout won't be under fire

シャランスキーあたりに批判されると、さすがのシャロンも、パレスチナがやるべきことをやらない限りこのままただ単に撤退、なんてことはしない、とはっきり明言している。イスラエルだけでロードマップを実行するということはない、パレスチナも共に、という限りにおいて、ということのようだ。

この発言が今ここに至ってのシャロンのぎりぎりの本意ではないとしても、シャランスキーらに「監視」されている以上、パレスチナ側のロードマップの履行が伴わなければ、７月２０日の「撤退開始」までは、まだまだ紆余曲折がありそうだ。

イスラエル軍撤退、７月２０日開始確定

　 【エルサレム＝佐藤秀憲】シャロン首相とモファズ国防相は２０日、ユダヤ人入植地撤去計画の実施案が同日、閣議承認されたのを受け、入植地撤去とイスラエル軍撤退を７月２０日に始める命令書に署名、撤去開始日が確定した。

　 撤去は、ガザ地区２１か所とヨルダン川西岸４か所の入植地が対象で、４段階に分けて行われる。首相は入植地撤去について、「（パレスチナ人との）和平に向けた痛みの伴う行動」と説明、その意義を強調した。
