Palestinian PM threatening to quit: report

He has reportedly told Palestinian Authority chairman Yasser Arafat that he has no intention of being prime minister under the conditions imposed by the leader.
There is less than two days left before Prime Minister Abu Mazen must form a cabinet or resign, and after talks all day Sunday over the composition of the cabinet, sources say he reiterated an ultimatum that he would quit rather than put up with conditions demanded by Yasser Arafat.
The sticking point is the appointment of former Gaza security chief Mohammed Dahlan to the internal security portfolio.
Chairman Arafat wants a loyalist in the post instead.

アラファトと新首相Abu Mazen氏のあいだで、組閣をめぐる対立が激化。
争点は内務相。
そもそも、アラファトは組閣に介入する権限を取り上げられたのだが、
Abu Mazenが慣例として、ファタハとアラファトにお伺いをかけたところ、
アラファトお気に入りの内務相を解任するつもりであることが知られて騒ぎに。

アラファトはここ数年、パーキンソンが進行していることが知られているが、
「朝と夕方で逆のことを話す」と言われるまでに、頭に来ているらしい。
もしも、このインティファーダが、老独裁者の錯乱によるものだったとしたら
あまりにパレスチナ人は可哀想。

エジプト側から武器を密輸するためのトンネルを摘発した。
死者６名。
