Sharon admits a Palestinian state is already an established fact

"When you look, you see that all the government structures already exist," Sharon said in an interview on Channel 2.

"The Palestinians have ministers, they have a cabinet, and they have a president. They also have 104 states acknowledging their right to statehood, even before they declare it."

Sharon also said that both Israel and the Palestinians need to understand that they must both make painful concessions in order to achieve peace, and that he was confident this would happen. But he warned about discussing the terms for peace before negotiations take place between the two sides.

"All this talk about the concessions to be made and the conditions (for peace) will only complicate the negotiations (with the Palestinians)," Sharon said.

ネタニヤフが前日に「私が首相になったらアラファトを追放する」
と発言したことを受けてのシャロンの発言。
最近のネタニヤフは、パレスチナ国家の樹立にきつい条件をつけるなど、
シャロンの「弱腰」を非難する戦術を取っており、
シャロンは対抗して、「より現実的な」ところを見せようと、
「もうパレスチナ国家は事実上成立している」と発言した模様。

個人的には、正直言って、ネタニヤフとシャロンの選択というのは
「どちらが良いか」ではなく、「どちらがマシか」という
消極的な選択になってしまうのですが、
まだ、シャロンの方がマシなのかな？ 　 とも思います。
ネタニヤフは宗教勢力に配慮しすぎだから。
